Used 53ft Hyundai Container Chassis, 2011
Buy this if you run 53-foot intermodal boxes and need another chassis under them without paying new-trailer money. It is a 2011 Hyundai unit, used, black, steel throughout. A chassis is the wheeled frame that carries a container over the road and hands it back to a rail ramp or a yard stack without anyone breaking the load down.
Who it suits
Drayage operators. Freight companies running their own power. Warehouse fleets that shuttle boxes between a distribution center and a port. Also construction outfits that move a jobsite container more than once a season. If you pull a container twice a year, rent. If you pull one most weeks, owning stops the rental meter quickly.
Steel, and what to look at on a used unit
The frame is heavy-duty steel, which is the standard here for good reason. A chassis lives outdoors, gets scraped by container corner castings, and absorbs abuse that no lighter frame would survive at this price. You pay for that in weight and in rust management.
On a used chassis the frame is rarely the problem. Tires, brake shoes, the lighting harness, and the landing gear are. Crank the landing gear under load, not empty. Confirm the twist locks turn and lock cleanly. Check that the kingpin plate is flat and unworn, and that the unit matches the tractor and container length you actually run.
