What we collect

  • Account details: username and password if you create an account, plus your order history.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and device type.
  • Pages viewed, time on page, the site you arrived from, and the search terms that brought you here where the search engine passes them.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use three kinds:

  • Strictly necessary. Cart contents, checkout state, login sessions, and security tokens. The store will not work without these and they cannot be switched off from within the site.
  • Performance and analytics. Aggregate measurement of page views, traffic sources, and where visitors drop out of checkout. We use this to fix the site, not to profile individuals.
  • Preference. Remembering things like a dismissed notice or a recently viewed unit.

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break the cart and checkout. We honor Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser as an opt-out request where applicable law requires it.

Who we share information with

We share only what a given party needs to do its job, and only for that job.

  • Payment processors. Card and bank transaction handling, chargeback and fraud screening.
  • Freight carriers and dispatch brokers. Your name, delivery address, phone number, and site access notes, so the driver can reach you and set an appointment.
  • Web hosting and security providers. Server infrastructure, backups, caching, and firewall services that necessarily process traffic to the site.
  • Email and communications providers. Delivery of order confirmations, shipping notices, and any newsletter you subscribed to.
  • Analytics providers. Aggregated site usage measurement.
  • Professional advisers. Accountants, auditors, and attorneys, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Government and law enforcement. Where we are legally required to respond, or to establish or defend legal claims.
  • A buyer of the business. If Acorn Machinery is sold or merged, customer records transfer with it, subject to this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent or trade mailing lists.

Administrative access is restricted to named staff accounts and protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. Payment pages are handled by PCI-compliant processors. Backups are encrypted at rest.

No system is perfect, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant state authorities within the timeframes the law sets.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the following rights.

  • Right to delete. Ask us to delete personal information we hold, subject to the exceptions in the statute. We cannot delete records we are required to keep for tax, title, or warranty purposes.
  • Right to correct. Ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes we will update this policy first and provide a clear opt-out link.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CPRA defines it.
  • Right against discrimination. Exercising any of these rights will not change your pricing, your delivery, or the service you get from us.

We verify your identity by matching the details you give us against our order records, and we may ask for one more piece of information before releasing data.
