20ft Container Chassis
A chassis is what makes a marine box road legal. The frame locks to the container’s corner castings and the box itself becomes the deck, so nothing sits on top of anything and the profile stays low. This one is sized to a single 20ft ISO container: 23 feet 6 inches overall, a full 8 feet wide, nothing hanging off either end.
The weight numbers are the story
Tare is 6,700 lbs. Carrying capacity is 67,200 lbs. That spread is the point of buying a purpose-built chassis instead of putting a container on a flatbed. Every pound the trailer does not weigh is a pound of freight you can legally haul, and on a loaded 20-footer the difference decides whether a run is worth making.
Two axles, eight tires. Eight contact patches under a fully loaded box means the weight spreads properly and the trailer brakes predictably instead of hopping.
Dock height
The frame sits at 48 inches, which is standard dock level. Back it in and the container floor lines up with the warehouse floor, so a pallet jack rolls straight across. Low frame height also keeps the loaded center of gravity down, which matters on ramps and off-camber yard surfaces. The trade is ground clearance: a 48-inch chassis will scrape on a steep driveway apron that a taller trailer clears.

Who buys one
Drayage operators and owner-operators building out a container fleet. Container dealers who deliver their own inventory. Warehouses running boxes between a yard and a rail ramp often enough that rental invoices start to look silly.
Before it goes into service
Confirm your container’s corner castings line up with the twist locks; ISO spacing is standard but a modified box is not always. Check that the locking pins turn and seat. Look at tire tread and date codes, and test brake function on both axles. Then check your tractor is rated for the combined loaded weight, because 67,200 lbs of capacity is only useful if the power unit and your registration can carry it.
