The interesting number on this Alum-Line is 3,040 lbs. That is the empty weight of a 24-foot gooseneck rated to 13,000 lbs, which leaves 9,960 lbs of payload. A comparable steel gooseneck of the same length typically starts a ton and a half heavier, and every pound of that comes straight out of what you can legally put on the deck.
You pay for the aluminum up front and you get it back on every load. The superstructure is 10-inch by 1/2-inch aluminum channel with non-skid tongue-and-groove extruded aluminum decking. There is no wood to rot out and nothing to sandblast and repaint in year six.
The ramps
Three flip-over ramps fold down and together form a full-width ramped rear over beavertail construction. Full width is the point. A skid steer or a wide-stance tractor does not have to be lined up on two narrow ramps, and a low-slung implement clears the transition because the beavertail already dropped the deck. Fold them up and they ride flat rather than sticking out behind you.
Tie-down and hookup
A sliding winch track with ratchets runs the deck, so strap positions move with the load instead of the other way around. D-rings are fitted as well, plus 2-inch rail and stake pockets on 24-inch centers. The gooseneck is 8 feet with a 2-5/16 inch ball-type adjustable coupler. Dual front landing jacks, a break-away switch and battery, safety chains, enclosed wiring, sealed-beam markers and an LED package.
Axles are 7,000 lb rubber torsion with electric brakes. Torsion carries the load through rubber cords rather than leaf packs, which rides better empty and removes the equalizer and shackle wear points. It also cannot be re-arched if it sags, so check the ride height on a used unit. This one is a 2024 sold as pre-owned. Aluminum rims with radial tires, spare and carrier, and a tool box are on it.
