2024 Rice Trailers 7×16 10K Equipment Hauler
Note the GVWR: 9,990 lbs, not 10,000. That ten-pound gap is deliberate. It keeps the trailer under the 10,000 lb threshold that triggers heavier registration and inspection requirements in a lot of states. If you are a landscaper or a small contractor who wants real capacity without the paperwork that comes with a bigger plate, that is the reason to look at this Rice FMEMR8216 instead of a 14K.
Empty weight is 2,775 lbs, so payload comes out at 7,215 lbs. That handles a compact tractor with a loader, a small skid steer, a pair of zero-turns and a walk-behind, or a mix of machines and material. It will not handle a full-size skid steer with attachments. Know your heaviest load before you buy.
Loading
Ramps are 5-foot equipment-style, spring assisted, with kickers. The kickers matter on a tracked machine because they close the gap at the deck edge so the tracks do not catch on the lip. One person can raise and drop these without help.
Frame
A 5″ channel tongue feeds a 6″ channel main frame, with 3″ formed channel crossmembers under pressure-treated decking. Hard fenders take a boot or a bucket edge without folding. The 2-5/16″ adjustable coupler is rated to 14,000 lbs, which is well over what this trailer will ever ask of it, and it lets you set deck height to your truck’s ball so the trailer tows level. A trailer nose-high on the highway loads the rear axle and wears tires unevenly. Worth taking ten minutes to set correctly. Under the tongue is a 7,000 lb drop-leg jack.
Finish is complete black powder coat. Wiring is a fully sealed modular harness with LED lights, and there is an emergency breakaway kit. Options already fitted: welded 3″ D-rings, a flatbed spare mount, and a Stealth-Magnum toolbox.
