2024 PJ Trailers 7×14 7K Powder Coated Open Utility Trailer
Same 7×14 footprint as PJ’s light-duty utility, roughly double the capacity. Two 3,500 lb axles sit under it, both braked, for a 7,000 lb GVWR and 5,065 lbs of payload after the trailer’s 1,935 lbs. Landscapers and remodelers usually end up here. Fourteen hundred pounds of payload on a single-axle trailer disappears the moment a mower and half a pallet of pavers are aboard.
The side walls are the point
Twenty-two inch solid metal walls run the full length of the deck. Bagged mulch, gravel, broken concrete, roofing tear-off, loose brush: it stays in the trailer instead of on the road behind you. Mesh sides and open rails will not do that. The walls also give you something solid to lean sheet goods against on the drive home. What you give up is a little weight, a little wind resistance, and the ability to slide long stock off the side of the deck.
Loading and hardware
The rear ramp gate folds down flat for mowers, wheelbarrows, and anything else on wheels, then stands back up for the road. Stake pockets accept uprights when a load runs taller than the walls. ATP fenders come off for tire work. Wiring is a 7-way all-weather harness feeding flush-mount LEDs, which is the right specification for a trailer that will spend half the year in salt and slush.

Braking deserves a sentence of its own. At a 7,000 lb rating you need a brake controller in the tow vehicle, and both axles here are braked rather than just the front one. Coming down a long grade with 5,000 lbs behind the truck, that is not an academic difference. Check that your hitch, receiver, and ball are all rated for the full 7,000 lbs before you load to the ceiling, since the weakest rated part of the chain is the one that governs.
Finish is black powder coat, which holds up to chips and corrosion better than the paint most budget trailers wear. Freight is a flat $550 anywhere in the continental United States. Returns stay open 30 days. Reach us at (712) 356-0109 or sales@acornmachinery.com.
