A steel four-horse bumper-pull with real numbers behind it. The 2019 Trails West Classic II runs an upgraded 7 ft. 4 in. of interior height, 7 ft. of width, and a 21 ft. 8 in. floor length, at a listed weight of 4,773 lbs. Stalls measure 41 in. pin to pin with a 129 in. diagonal, which fits average to large stock horses comfortably. Warmbloods and big-bodied hunters get tight in a 41 in. stall, so measure your horse rather than guessing.
The coupler is a 2-5/16 in. ball, so this pulls off a bumper hitch. That makes it easier to live with than a gooseneck, since you keep your truck bed and skip the hitch install, but you give up some stability in a crosswind and on grooved concrete. Axles are 6,000# torsion with easy-lube hubs. Brakes are electric on all four wheels, and the tires are radial.
Build
The floor is 2×10 Douglas fir, the roof one-piece aluminum, the exterior triple-wall smooth under multi-stage infrared-cured polyurethane paint. Gate hinges are galvanized. On a wood-floor trailer the floor is the first thing to check, so we lift the mats and probe the boards on everything we take in.
Stalls and tack
Each stall has a drop-down feed door with a safety grill, a tailside sliding window, a flush-mounted pop-up vent, and its own light. Dividers are rotary slam-latch with gas-shock holdbacks, so you can work one with a hand on a horse. Rubber mats cover the floor and the walls. The first stall has an escape door with its own drop-down feed door, and the rear closes with double doors.
The tack room carries the upgrade package, detailed below. The Convenience Package adds a spare tire, three exterior load lights, a water tank, a door-mounted organizer, and a sport bag.
