Eighteen feet of box, 8 feet wide, and 7 feet 6 inches of inside height. That last number is the one to notice. Most four-horse trailers stop at 7 feet flat, and those extra six inches are the difference between a tall horse traveling with its head up and one that spends the trip ducking. At roughly 22.5 hands of clearance, this Lakota takes big stock without argument.
All aluminum, and the weight it saves
Empty weight is 5,095 pounds. For an 18-foot four-horse that is light, and it comes down almost entirely to aluminum construction. GVWR is 12,500, which leaves 7,405 pounds of payload on the plate. Four horses at 1,100 apiece is 4,400. You have room for hay, water, tack and a full hayrack without creeping up on the limit, which is not something you can say about every four-horse in this size class.
Floor and running gear
Aluminum floor. On a used trailer that takes the most expensive failure mode off the table, because aluminum will not rot the way wood does under mats nobody thinks to lift. Twin 7,000-pound axles on 16-inch tires put 14,000 pounds of axle under a 12,500-pound plate, so the axles are nowhere near the limiting factor. Manual jack and spare tire included.
Layout
A two-foot short wall against a seven-foot long wall gives you a dressing room sized for tack and prep rather than for living in. Escape door for safer loading, and a hayrack for feeding on the road.

One thing we will confirm rather than assume for you: the hitch configuration and coupler spec on this particular unit. A 12,500-pound GVWR is a serious amount of trailer, and whether it rides on a bumper hitch or a gooseneck ball decides which trucks can legally pull it. Ask and we will read the VIN plate to you before you buy. Dimensions and weights are approximate. Flat $550 freight to the continental US, 30 days from delivery to send it back.
