This is a 2002, and the price reflects that. What you get for the money is a steel three-horse bumper pull with a 17-foot box and a 3-foot short wall dressing room. It is a working trailer for someone who hauls to the vet, the fairgrounds and the trailhead, and who does not need aluminum or living quarters to do it. For its age it presents clean.
Steel is the trade you are making. It is heavier and it will rust if you neglect it, but it is also cheap to weld and cheap to patch, and a heavier trailer sits more planted at highway speed than a light one does. Empty weight is roughly 3,200 lbs against a 10,400 lb GVWR, so payload is generous for three horses and gear. The 5,200 lb axles are the same rating you find under three-horse trailers built twenty years later.
Two things matter more than anything else on a trailer this old, and we will walk through both with you. First, the floor. Pull the mats, look at the boards, then get underneath and look at the crossmembers where water collects. Second, the tires. Date codes matter more than tread depth here, because rubber ages out sitting still in a field. We would rather you know that going in.
Inside height is 7 ft, roughly 21 hands. Fine for an average quarter horse, tight for anything tall, so measure at the withers and allow for headset. Outside width is 6 ft 5 in. On a trailer of this vintage the published dimensions and weights are approximate. Tell us which measurement you actually need and we will go put a tape on it before you buy.
