Empty weight 4,050 lbs. GVWR 13,000 lbs. That gap is close to 9,000 lbs of payload, and it is the number that makes this 2016 Sundowner worth what it costs. Three full-size horses at 1,200 lbs apiece comes to 3,600. Add hay, water, a full tack room and you are still well short of the plate. Most three-horse trailers cannot say that.
The trailer is aluminum from frame to skin, floor included. An aluminum floor does not rot, and rot is what ends most wood-floor trailers somewhere around year fifteen. It hoses out clean. It still wants mats over it and a rinse after every haul, because urine left standing on aluminum pits it given enough time.
Dressing room and layout
Four-foot short wall over a nine-foot long wall. The nine feet is what gives three horses room to stand without leaning on each other, and four feet of short wall holds tack for all three plus a trunk. A rear escape door gives you a way out that does not involve squeezing past a loaded animal in a narrow aisle.

Inside height is 7’0″, roughly 21 hands. That suits quarter horses, stock horses and most of what people haul three abreast. If your tallest animal is a 17-hand jumper, buy something taller. We would rather send you to a different trailer than have you fight a low roof for the next ten years.
Six-thousand-pound axles under a 13,000 lb GVWR is proper spec rather than marginal spec, which is where a lot of trailers get cheap. Here the limiting factor is your truck. You need a bed-mounted gooseneck hitch and a legal rating that covers 13,000 lbs loaded, and that means a three-quarter-ton at minimum. On a used gooseneck of this grade we inspect welds, floor, axles and coupler before it goes anywhere. Dimensions and weights are approximate.
