Seventeen feet of box on a two-horse bumper pull. That is long, and the reason is the dressing room: a 4′ short wall paired with a 4′ long wall up front, roughly double what a basic two-horse gives you. If you travel with saddles for two, a tack trunk, feed, and a change of clothes, this is the layout that stops you stacking gear in the horse area.
This 2016 Shadow is aluminum throughout, floor included. Aluminum floors do not rot the way wood does and you will not be replacing one at year fifteen. They do want the mats pulled and the floor rinsed after a haul, because urine left standing on aluminum will pit it. Keep up with that and the floor outlasts everything else on the trailer.
What the extra length costs you
A 17-foot box swings wider and needs more room to park. At the barn and at most fairgrounds that is a non-issue. In a residential driveway or a crowded trailhead lot it is very much an issue. Measure your storage spot and your turnaround before you commit to this one over a 14-footer.

Inside height is 7’6″, about 22.5 hands, on a 7′ outside width. Tall horses clear the roof and two stand side by side without shouldering each other. The side escape door lets you leave the front of the horse area after loading instead of squeezing back past a horse.
GVWR is 7,000 lbs on tandem 3,500 lb axles, empty weight around 3,200. That is a load a properly equipped half-ton can pull, though the length means you want a decent wheelbase under you more than you want raw towing numbers. On this unit we check floor, brakes, tires and wiring before handoff, and we will send photos of anything you want to see up close.
