One of the newest two-horse bumper pulls on our lot and one of the easiest to tow. The 2018 Lakota 2HBPST is all aluminum, about 3,190 lbs empty, with a 7,625 lb GVWR. Subtract and you have roughly 4,400 lbs of payload. Two 1,100 lb horses plus tack, water, and hay leaves you real margin. Two 1,400 lb warmbloods does not.
Inside height is 7’6″, about 22.5 hands. Outside width is a full 7 feet, so the stalls are proper width rather than the pinched dimensions you find on narrow budget trailers. Mangers in front of both stalls. Side escape door for getting clear of a horse during loading.
Half-ton or three-quarter-ton
At a 7,625 lb GVWR this is a legitimate half-ton trailer if your truck is rated for it and you run a weight-distributing hitch and a brake controller. A three-quarter-ton makes it a non-event. Read the sticker on your door jamb rather than the brochure number, because payload varies by cab, bed, and drivetrain more than most buyers expect.

The aluminum floor is worth a note. It will not rot the way a wood floor does, so you are not pulling mats every spring hunting for soft boards. It does need mats kept in place, because bare aluminum under a shod horse gets slick and takes a beating. Mats and floor condition are on our pre-delivery checklist.
