Measure your car before you buy a 16 ft enclosed hauler. That is the first thing we tell anyone looking at this trailer. Sixteen feet is 192 inches of box, and once the interior beavertail takes its share at the back, a full-size sedan or a long-nose muscle car is a tight fit. A Miata, a compact, a couple of ATVs or a side-by-side, no problem at all. Bring us the length of what you are hauling and we will tell you honestly whether the 8.5 x 20 is the one you need instead.
What you gain by staying at 16 ft is a trailer that fits in a normal driveway, tows behind a half-ton without swaying, and costs less to buy and to store.
Construction
Steel frame with a 6 x 2 in triple-tube tongue. Wall posts and floor crossmembers are on 16 in centers, which is the spacing worth checking on any enclosed trailer, because 24 in centers are common at the budget end and you can feel the difference when you push on a wall panel. Exterior is .030 aluminum with semi-screwless sidewalls, and the roof is a seamless one-piece aluminum sheet.
There is a vapor barrier between the steel frame and the aluminum skin. That is a corrosion control detail, not a comfort one. Dissimilar metals in contact with moisture between them corrode, and the barrier is what stops the frame rotting the skin from behind over the years.
Inside and access
Interior height is 84 in. Floors and walls are engineered wood, with dual LED dome lights overhead. The rear ramp is spring-assisted and there is a 36 in RV-style flush-lock side door. The interior beavertail eases the load angle at the back.
Running gear
Tandem 3,500 lb brake axles with Easy Lube hubs and full LED exterior lighting. The Blackout package with aluminum wheels is fitted.
