The number to compare on this 24-foot ATC ROM 550 is .040. That is the skin thickness, against .030 on the models below it in the range. Thicker aluminum resists dings from gravel, ladders and pit-lane traffic, and it holds a flatter surface over years of sun. It costs weight and money. Whether that is worth it depends on how the trailer lives.
Skirted spread torsion axles
Two 5,200-pound spread torsion axles with skirting between the wheels. The skirting cleans up the airflow along the side, which helps a little at highway speed and helps more with how the trailer looks parked in a paddock. Aluminum wheels keep unsprung weight down.
Beavertail loading
A beavertail at the rear flattens the approach angle so a low car climbs on without dragging the splitter. The Premium Escape Door handles the other half of the problem, which is getting out once the car is inside and the doors will not open all the way. An aluminum slide-out step makes normal entry easy.
LifeTrac and living out of it
ATC LifeTrac is included, so cabinets, sofas, wall hooks and helmet racks mount to track rather than to permanent holes. The trailer changes when your program changes. A 30-amp electrical package, A/C prep and two manual roof vents mean you can wire it for real comfort at a track or campground rather than treating it as a box on wheels.
