At 1,900 lb and 36 in. across the chassis, the TMG-MVE08 goes places a full mini excavator cannot. Through a garden gate. Into a basement on a plywood run. Onto a deck. Trailered behind a half-ton pickup with no special licence and no ramps you need two people to lift.
The engine is a single cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke OHV of 420 cc, EPA certified, rated 15 HP with a maximum output of 8.6 kW at 3,600 rpm. Electric start with a battery included. Being air-cooled and gasoline-fuelled means no glow plugs, no diesel treatment and no cold start drama in November.

Be realistic about it
Travel speed tops out at 1.8 km/h. This machine walks. The bucket holds half a cubic foot and the fuel tank holds 5.5 liters. It is a trenching and landscaping tool, not a production digger, and buying it expecting otherwise leads to disappointment. Inside that envelope it is excellent: irrigation lines, footings for a small deck, stump work with the optional mechanical thumb, tree planting, drainage around a foundation.
A dozer blade is standard with 6 in. of lift and 6 in. of drop. The operator area is open with reduced blind spots, and the control panel is simple enough that a new operator picks it up in an afternoon.
