A Rima RM500PLUS firewood processor, 2024 build, powered by a 37 hp Lifan engine and set up to take rounds up to 400 mm. One person runs it. Log on the deck, cut, split, out the other side.
A processor earns its keep at volume. If you burn ten cords a year, a chainsaw and a splitter are cheaper and you will not miss the machine. If you sell firewood, or you are cutting for a lodge or a rental fleet, the arithmetic flips fast, because the slow part of firewood is handling the wood twice rather than cutting it.
400 mm is roughly 16 inches of capacity, which covers most of the hardwood rounds people actually process. Oversize butts still need a saw before they get near the machine.
