An insulated roof is not a common find on a used two-horse bumper-pull, and it is what separates this 2010 Merhow slant from most of the aluminum two-horse market. If your horses spend real hours in the trailer, it matters. A bare aluminum roof radiates heat straight down on a July afternoon and drips condensation on a cool morning. Insulation flattens both.
The second thing worth noting is the escape door. Load the front stall on a slant and you still have to get yourself back out. Without a side door that means squeezing past a horse in a space narrower than the horse. This one has the door.
Layout and numbers
Dressing room up front with a 2 ft short wall and a 7 ft long wall. That is a small dressing room. Enough for saddles, blankets and a grooming box, not enough to change clothes in comfortably. Box length is 13 feet. Inside height is 7 ft 6 in, roughly 22.5 hands, and outside width is 6 ft 9 in.
Tandem 3,500 lb axles on 15-inch tires, with a spare and a manual jack included. Empty weight is around 2,800 lbs against a 7,000 lb GVWR. Plenty of half-ton trucks will pull this loaded, but run the numbers on your truck’s payload rather than its tow rating. Tongue weight plus passengers and gear is usually what runs out first, not the pulling capacity.
