Kiefer Built made its name on trailers that survive twenty years of hard use, and this 2002 2HBP is a fair example of why. Two horses, bumper pull, four-foot dressing room. It hitches to a ball on the back of your truck. No bed hitch, no drilling through sheet metal, no eleven-hundred-dollar install before you can haul anything. For a first trailer, or a second one that lives at the barn, that simplicity is worth more than most buyers expect going in.

The frame is steel with an aluminum skin. Interior height is 7’6″, roughly 22.5 hands. That is generous for a bumper pull of this vintage, since plenty of 2002-era trailers left the factory at a flat seven feet. If you have been shopping used and finding low ceilings, this one solves the problem.

Inside

The dressing room runs four feet of short wall and four feet of long wall. Room for saddles, a tack trunk, and hanging space for blankets. An escape door on the horse side gives you a way out of the front of the horse area once the animals are loaded. Manual jack. Spare tire included.

Construction Steel frame, aluminum skin
Hitch Bumper pull
Capacity 2 horse, escape door
Inside height 7’6″ (22.5 hands)
Outside width 7′

Empty weight 3,200 lbs
GVWR 7,000 lbs

The honest trade-off

A bumper pull rides less settled than a gooseneck at highway speed and in crosswind. The tongue weight sits behind your rear axle instead of over it, so the trailer has more leverage to push the truck around. On short and medium hauls with a properly set up hitch and brake controller, most people never notice. If you are running 600-mile trips several times a season, shop goosenecks instead.

GVWR is 7,000 lbs at 3,200 lbs empty, on two 3,500 lb axles. A three-quarter-ton handles it without thinking. Many half-tons will too, but read your own door sticker rather than take our word for it. This is a 2002, so check the floor, the tire date codes and the wiring. We go over the same list before it ships.
