Under ten hauls. That is the headline on this 2022 Double D reverse slant two-horse bumper pull, and it is why it belongs in the conversation next to a new trailer at a much higher number. The interior has not been lived in and the tires are barely worn.
Reverse slant puts the horses at the opposite angle from a conventional slant load. For a lot of horses that turns loading into a straighter walk-in rather than a turn into a tight stall. This one has ramps at both ends instead of a step-up, and horses that argue with a step-up generally stop arguing on a ramp.
Insulation, fans and lights
Full insulation plus interior fans is a show-circuit setup. A trailer sitting in a fairground parking lot in July turns into an oven, and moving air through an insulated box is the difference between a horse that comes out ready to work and one that comes out wrung out. Interior lights are fitted as well.
Construction and weight
The skin is 16-gauge galvalite: a steel core with an aluminum exterior. You get steel strength where it counts and an outer surface that will not corrode through the paint. It carries more weight than an all-aluminum trailer, 2,980 lbs empty here, and it takes a knock better. GVWR is 7,000 lbs, so figure about 4,000 lbs of horses, tack and water on top.
Box length is 13 feet with an overall trailer length of 15 feet. Height is 7 ft 7 in and width is a full 7 feet. Seven feet of width is genuinely wide for a two-horse and a big part of why this trailer hauls as comfortably as it does. Four-wheel brakes, aluminum wheels, 205/75R15 load range C radials, 2-5/16 inch coupler.
