Fourteen thousand pounds gross, 7 by 14 foot bed, 40-inch high sides. This is the dump trailer most contractors should be looking at before they talk themselves into something bigger.
The reason is the tow vehicle. A 14,000 lb GVWR trailer stays inside what a well-specced three-quarter ton or one-ton pickup handles comfortably. Step up to 17,600 lb and you are into truck territory that a lot of buyers do not already own. If you have the truck, take the bigger one. If you are not sure, take this one.

High sides change the maths
The 40-inch sides are an upgrade over the standard height and they roughly change what a load looks like. For dense material like gravel or wet spoil you will hit the 14,000 lb weight limit long before you fill the box, so the sides do nothing for you there. For mulch, brush, demolition debris and anything light and bulky, they are the whole point. Know which one you haul most.
Running gear
Tandem 7,000 lb axles on multi-leaf slipper springs. Slipper springs ride better under a partial load than equaliser setups and are cheap to replace. Brakes are forward self-adjusting electric, so they take up their own slack instead of waiting for you to notice they have gone soft.
Working details
Side steps for climbing in and out. Rear stabiliser stands to hold the trailer down while the bed is up. A 12,000 lb top wind jack, which is more jack than the tongue weight needs and makes hooking up on uneven ground easy. Grade 70 chains, not the Grade 43 you find on cheaper trailers.
