2025 Behnke Air Brake Gravity Tilt Deckover Trailer – 102in x 30ft, 40,000 GVWR, Fabricated I-Beam Frame

Forty thousand pounds GVWR on a tilt deck. That puts the FB8X30TPT-40L above almost everything else in the gravity tilt category and into territory normally handled by a lowboy.

The frame is a custom fabricated one-piece I-beam rather than standard rolled steel. Crossmembers are 4 in Jr. I-beams on 16 in centers, which is a step up from the channel crossmembers most deckovers use and it shows when you track a mini excavator across the deck instead of driving straight down the center.

Deck layout

Twenty-four feet of tilt and a six-foot stationary deck up front. That split works well for excavators and dozers: the machine loads up the tilt section under its own power, then you park the counterweight or the blade over the stationary deck for weight distribution. Tilt runs on dual cushion cylinders with air assist, so it comes down under control rather than dropping.

Running gear

Dual 20,000 lb Dexter oil bath axles on Hutch H9700 suspension, eight ST235/75R-17.5 tires, air brakes with ABS. Air brakes are standard equipment from Behnke rather than an upcharge.

Know this before you order

Air brakes and a 3 in pintle eye mean this trailer needs an air-equipped tractor or a properly plumbed heavy truck with a pintle hook. It will not go behind a pickup. That is not a criticism of the trailer, it is what a 40,000 lb rating requires, but it catches people out. If you are towing with a one-ton dually, look at our 24,000 lb Behnke tilt instead.

Tie-downs are 1 in D-rings every 4 feet down both sides. There is a V-style toolbox on the tongue, dual heavy-duty landing gear, and a multi-stage protective coating over the whole frame.
