The 9,990 lb GVW rating is deliberate. Ten thousand pounds is the line where registration, permitting and inspection rules change in a lot of states, and Nordtek stopped this trailer ten pounds short of it. If you have ever dealt with the paperwork on the other side of that number, you already know why that matters.
What separates it from a base tilt
The winch plate is standard, not an option. So is the two-part toolbox, which is more useful than one big box because you can keep straps in one side and tools in the other without digging. The tail is treadplate rather than a wooden rear section, which is the part of a tilt trailer that takes the most abuse from tire scuff and ramp contact. Wood there wears through. Steel does not.
The coupler is adjustable, so you can level the deck to your truck rather than living with whatever nose-high or nose-down attitude it came at.
Tilt system
Power up, gravity down. That is a middle option between a manual gravity tilt and a full power-both-ways setup, and it is worth understanding. You get powered lift, which is what you actually need. Coming down, gravity and the cylinder’s control do the work. The practical upside is that a dead battery still lets you get the deck down and the machine off. The downside is that a dead battery leaves you unable to raise it. There is a deep-cycle battery on board and the usual answer is to keep it charged.
Frame and fittings
Six-inch channel frame with 3 in channel crossmembers on 16 in spacing, full wrap tongue, 6-bolt wheels, 2.5 in rub rail with 4 in stake pockets, and checker-plated fenders. Tie-downs are the rubrail and stake pockets, with D-rings available as an option. There is a 7 in front guard rail, a removable spare tire mount, easy-lube hubs, a 7,000 lb jack, LED lighting and a braided wiring harness.
