2003 Sundowner Two Horse Trailer
Steel frame, aluminum skin. That combination built Sundowner’s reputation, and it is why a 2003 unit is still on the road and still worth money. The frame carries the load. The skin keeps weather out and does not corrode the way sheet steel does. You get most of the rust resistance of an all-aluminum trailer at a lower price, and you give up some of the weight savings in exchange.
This one is a two horse bumper pull with a 2-foot short-wall dressing room. Empty weight 2,900 lbs, GVWR 7,000 lbs, box length 15 feet.
Who it fits
Trail riders hauling a pair to the trailhead. 4-H and show families running to the county fairgrounds. Anyone who needs to get two horses to the vet without owning a gooseneck and a three-quarter-ton truck to pull it. The roughly 4,100 lbs of remaining capacity covers two average horses and a dressing room of gear with margin left.
Inside height is 7 feet, about 21 hands of clearance. That suits most stock horses and a good number of lighter warmbloods. Tall animals that travel with their heads up need measuring first. Outside width is 7 feet, standard for a straight-load two horse of this era rather than generous.

The dressing room is small and honest about it. Two feet of short wall holds saddles, a bridle rack, and a tub of grooming supplies. It is not a changing room and it is not a place to sleep. What it does is keep leather out of the rain and off the trailer floor.
On a 2003 trailer we recommend a close look at the wood floor under the mats, the axle bearings, and the tire date codes. We will pull mats for a serious buyer. Freight is a flat $550 to the continental US, returns run 30 days, and you can reach us at (712) 356-0109.
