Seventeen feet of trailer behind a bumper pull hitch is about the limit before most people move to a gooseneck. This 2010 Merhow sits right at that line: three stalls, a front dressing room and a rear tack, all on a bumper pull. If you have a three-quarter-ton truck and no bed hitch, this is the configuration that works.
Condition is the selling point. It has been lightly used and cared for, and it shows in the interior. Extruded aluminum sides keep the weight down without the flex you get from thin sheet over posts.
The ramp
A rear ramp was added at the factory, which is not the same as an aftermarket bolt-on. Horses that plant their feet at a step-up will usually walk a ramp without argument, and if you have ever spent forty minutes in a parking lot with a horse that will not step up, that feature pays for itself once.
Ventilation and safety
The roof is lined and insulated, with a vent over each stall and interior fans. Head-side windows drop down behind bars, hip-side windows slide. Between the four you can set airflow for a hot August haul or shut it down for a cold one. An escape door out of the first stall means you are not backing yourself out past a horse. A stud wall divider is fitted, so a stallion or a horse that needs separation can travel without contact.
Storage
Front dressing room with swing-out blanket bars. The rear tack collapses and carries bridle hooks, a brush box, a carpeted door and wall, and a removable saddle rack. Six exterior tie rings, an exterior load light and interior lighting round it out.
