Three-horse slant load with a dressing room, sold as-is and priced accordingly. This is a working trailer, not a show piece. Steel frame with aluminum skin, 5,200 lb axles, and a 12,500 lb GVWR against roughly 3,500 lbs empty. That is around 9,000 lbs of rated capacity, and three horses will not come close to using it.

Slant versus straight

Horses ride at an angle in a slant load. Most owners find they balance better that way over long miles, because a horse standing on a diagonal can spread its feet fore and aft against braking and acceleration. The catch on a 17-foot slant is that the last stall gets shorter as the angle eats into the length. Bring a tape measure if you routinely haul three full-size horses rather than two horses and a pony.

Frame and skin

Steel frame with aluminum skin is the middle path between an all-steel trailer and an all-aluminum one. You get the structural strength and easy repairability of steel where the loads actually are, with aluminum panels that will not rust on the outside. The downside sits in the frame. On a 1998 trailer, frame corrosion is the first thing to look at, particularly where the frame meets the floor.

The dressing room runs a 2-foot short wall against a 7-foot long wall. Compact. It holds saddles, bridles, and a trunk. It is not somewhere you will comfortably change clothes. What it does do is keep tack out of the horse area, which is the whole job.

Sold as-is, where-is. Have the floor, brakes, tires, and lights gone over before the first haul, and budget for rubber if the date codes on those 15-inch tires are old. Flat $550 freight to the continental US, 30-day returns.
